MAXIME BLÉRIOT

Les prémices de l’identité artistique de Maxime Blériot ont lieu à Montréal. Au cours de sa formation à l’École Nationale de Cirque de Montréal, il découvre la performance par le biais de Peter James qui lui partage ses enseignements. C’est à partir d’eux qu’il travaille sur une forme qui lui est propre et qui se situe entre le corps et l’objet. Une pratique où l’expression de soi est mise en lumière par l’objet plastique en périphérie : une rencontre au cœur même de la sensation.

À chaque performance il tente de redéfinir l’espace performatif qu’il incarne ; au crépuscule d’un art tel que nous le connaissons, à l’aurore d’un art vert lequel il tend et qui n’existe pas encore.

Tel un chien qui retourne à son vomi, il aime à penser sa pratique comme un Caput-Mortuum ; terme chimique qui définit un résidu d'opérations dont on ne croyait pouvoir tirer aucun parti. C’est avec les poings les plus hardis et les doigts les plus délicats qu’il expérimente aussi authentiquement que possible cette brèche d’art; résultat d’un déversement concentré de vie.

Maxime Blériot's artistic identity began in Montreal. During his formation at the National Circus School of Montreal, he discovered Performance Arts through Peter James who shared many of his teachings with him. It is from these teachings that he began working on a form of his own, somewhere between the body and the object. A practice which self-expression is highlighted by the plastic object in the periphery ; an encounter at the very heart of sensation.
With each performance he tries to redefine the performative space he embodies; at the twilight of art as we know it, at the dawn of art towards which he tends and does not yet exist.
Like a dog returning to its vomit, he likes to define his practice as a Caput-Mortuum ; an alchemy term that defines the residue of an operation from which we thought we could not take any advantage. It is with the boldest fists and the most delicate fingers that he has the will to experiment as authentically as possible with this breach of art, results of this spilled concentrate of life.
